when asked how long a piece takes, often artists say, it took a lifetime. i have also heard, i'll let you know when it's done. for me , an individual piece can come to me at any moment, sometimes just the thought can be the entire manifestation of the work, other pieces have taken me the upwards of 180 hours +, it all depends on the process, medium, and breadth of concept. as a transdisiplinary artist, i am regularly engulfed in various series at once, across a myriad of mediums and genres, from the intentionally mundane to the avant-garde, my body of work will never be done. if i am lucky, by the time my physical self has moved on, technology will have caught up with mortality and there will be a part of me creating forever.
china faith star - artist
my work explores a conceptual boundary point between perceptive reality and the hive dynamic, the isolation and observation of the individual & the global sociological relationship to nature: our understanding of the physical manifestations of Earth & Universe & the cyber realities we simultaneously live in, the man made nature of cityscapes & biospheres, both physical and spiritual, each originating within a singular cognition expanded upon & repeated within the multitude. I am interested in the future: evolving perceptions, modes of human development & our relationships as individual and collective to an exponentially complexified reality.

TeXt : the language through which we communicate without sound :
how we communicate is often more powerful than what we have actually said, and so
i am inspired by text as form, the shape of letters, the power or subtleties that can be acheived through intentional layout.
i also write (POETRY - PROSE - PERFORMANCE - FICTION - OPINION) publically and as a ghost.
as a writer i concern myself primarily with rhythmn, repetition, voice & syntax,
the lineage that has evolved before me and the continued evolution of language and metaphor.
i like to play with the boundries
between our perception of reality & illusion,
our acknowlegdement of the tangible & the ethereal,
our diverse human relationship to the absurd & mundane.

IllustratioN : the language through which we communicate with image and composition :
my current series, Painted in the Language of Maps, evolved during a period of deep reflection & inquiry into the nuances of 21st century interaction, specifically the juxtaposition of exchanged vibrations within the physical 3D & that of our growing society of 2D dopplegangers.
i create visualy stimulating imagery to document these relationships & the infinite manifestions possible within a cyber construct.
i utilize the technique of mandala to create kalaidescopic designs rich with color and detail,
inviting the viewer to draw close and meditate in the spaces between 2D & 3D.
the process : fervent documentation of humanity's interaction & pose : line illustration, inked & reproduced, cut, collaged or sewn in place.
multimedia installation & relief.

THE CAPACITY OF ARTIST, AS SUBJECTIVE IDENTIFIER, IS TO SEE AN OBJECT’S SPIRITUALITY AND CONVEY THOSE OBSERVATIONS THROUGH COMPOSITION. MY WORK INVOLVES A COMPLEX PROCESS OF CAPTURING IN THE PRESENT MOMENT, THIS “SENSE OF SPIRIT”, TRANSMUTING IT INTO STORY EVOKING MASH-UPS, CONSTRUCTING A KALEIDOSCOPIC REFLECTION OF THE MULTIPLICITY OF HUMAN INTERACTION, THEN TRANSFERRING THIS INFORMATION INTO THE SOUL OF THE VIEWER. I AM CONCERNED WITH REPETITION AS A MEANS OF TRANSCENDENCE, EVOLVING OBSERVATION INTO A MORE FLUID RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LIMINAL SPACES AND MULTI-DIMENSIONAL LATTICES OF REALITY.
